The true story behind this picture: It was a typical Thursday night at Hornback’s
Arena. Everyone was gathered around the bleachers waiting for the buck out to
begin. They had just called out each bull
rider participating in that nights ride and one by one they lined up in the
middle of the arena. This was the big ride because this ride would determine
who had placed first in having the most eight second rides. There is a certain
family that had about six little bald headed boys ranging from about six to
twelve running around raising heck screaming, climbing the gate, and throwing
stuff at people. They were constantly in the way and I yelled at them bringing
a few to tears.
Look at these little boys trying to climb the fence so that way they can see their cowboy heroes. When the cowboys first got here the entire crowd went wild and so the show started. The cowboys all road bulls and broncos, and then all the cowboys got out there and started asking for the little boys to come out into the ring so they can see who can catch the pig. Little do the boys know that the pig has got a chain on its neck that’s like a choker necklace, but it has got a $100 bill locked onto it, so that way the first boy who catches the pig can have the money. The boys in the picture are so upset because they are too old to play the game even though they won so many times before. They all plan and think quietly to themselves, let’s wait till next year and we will show everyone up and just start riding bulls. To show them that if we are too old for pigs then we are big enough for the bulls.
ReplyDeleteIt was a summer night and a dangerous storm was brewing. A cowgirl by the name of, Mickenzie Brock, was angered by the simple villagers request and all the children from different parts of the town came to witness the showdown. The villagers wanted all the cowboys and cowgirls to leave town because they were a threat to the town’s safety. If they stayed then the Indians would invade the village but if they left the Indians would not bother the town. The reason why the Indians would attack the town if they had stayed was because they ruined the Indian’s hunting buffalo season and destroyed most of their crops with their wild mane horses. The Indians requested that the village get rid of the cowboys or they would invade and ransacked the village. That was how the event of the fighting between the cowboys and the villagers started. They were outside of town arguing and Mickenzie was furious. What difference did it make if they had left the village? They were the only protection the town had and without them the village would be in ruin months ago. The villagers argued back and forth with Mickenzie’s reasoning and in the end the villagers gave up. The villagers decided to go to the Indians and agreed to let the cowboys do some of their work in exchange for an apology. The Indians were skeptical but nonetheless they agreed with the peace agreement.
ReplyDeletea summer night down at the rodeo in pierce city mo. When they start calling the names of the bull riders they young kids all start sunning to see but when a parent hollers at their sun to come back he glairs back and they think nothing of it but the photographer behind them misunderstands them and is forced to show the picture to his parents. They no longer look at the boy the same, with his laser eyes and the way it blurred the picture makes them believe that he has a lot of evil in him and will turn on them and kill the ones that loved him. But they refuse to let that happen and they haul tail to the car in hopes of leaving him. They both get in the car and start it when they hear a voice from the back seat say “where are we going mommy and daddy?”
ReplyDeleteMickenzie: Today was the day that we remember one of the best bull riders in southwest Missouri. As the cowboys lined up in the arena, every one sat with tear filled eyes. The kids climbed onto the gate trying to get a better look. The crowd was silent not even the horses made a sound. When the 19 cowboys were all in a line they took off their cowboy hats, got down on one knee, and bowed their heads. One at a time they stood up and read a memory that they shared with this bull rider. The 19 cowboys stood for how old Jason was when he was taken from this earth. His fiancé, mother, father, and brother all sat on the bed of his truck in the arena and listened to what a wonderful young man Jason was. When the ceremony was over the 19 cowboys went over and shook hands with his family and expressed their condolences. No one ever forgot this cowboy for he gave riding a new meaning.
ReplyDeleteMickenzie Brock: Something country folks get excited about would be bulls and pretty much any other animal that will buck a person off. Some people practice getting bucked off until they have broken every bone in there body or take it to the extreme resulting in death. Let’s not get depressed now, rodeos are exciting and you never know what’s going to happen. During the summer rodeos are the talk of the town, especially the big rodeo called Buckin Bull. Bucking Bull happens on August 7th every year and guys all over try to qualify for this rodeo, it is very difficult because only 10 are able to complete. To get to the finals, you get auctioned off by the crowd, so whoever thinks you deserve to go on to the finals will vote for the individuals.
ReplyDeleteIt’s time for a round-up here in Pierce City, Missouri where the annual bull-riding competition will begin. Mickenzie stands with the crowd as they cheer on the competitors. Things tense up as the first bull rages in the cage and fights for its’ freedom. Children gather around the gates in excitement to see the action all around. The riders line up and are named off one by one. Little did they know, this small town would get more than they bargained for. The spot light narrows down onto the first competitor and the gates fly open. The bull flails around and kicks with gigantic force to get the rider off. Time ticks down and the bull has lost more than half its’ energy. “I did it,” thought the bull-rider but little did he know that his saddle was coming loose. With every ounce of energy that bull had, it bucked off the rider and sent him outside of the ring. His head is knocked connects with a rock and is knocked out cold.
ReplyDelete“Go, dad!” I yelled from the gate as he lined up with the rest of the cowboys. The lights from the poles shown down and filled the arena, but even then I couldn’t see. Dad says I’m pretty tall for my age, but I’m still not tall enough to see over the gate. I climbed to see over the top bar and shouted as loud as I could to cheer him on.
ReplyDelete“Jeffrey, get down!” my mom scolded, but her tone told me she wasn’t all that serious. This was the last rodeo my dad would get to attend before they would take him in the Army. He said they were sending him to this whole other country, and he’s pretty excited, but he’s gonna miss me. If there’s one thing I know it’s that I’ll miss him.
By the time he gets back though, hopefully I’ll be able to see over the gate and he’ll be the one cheering me on.
It’s a hot summer night at the Pierce City Rodeo, the competitors are standing out in the dirt waiting for the bull riding competition to begin. In a matter of minutes they get the ball rolling and the first competitor takes off, the bull is bucking and bucking. Suddenly kids off in the distance start climbing on the fence and the bull charges toward them. The announcer yells over the intercom, “Get off the fence!!.” The kids fall back on the ground and the bull bounces off the fence. “That was a close call!” one of the kids remarked.
ReplyDeleteThis dark day back a long time ago when color photography wasn’t invented chaos ruled this arena. The children shown here are shown as rebels climbing a fence to watch this awarding of trophies to the men in the middle with big spot lights pointed directly at them. To ride the big beasts and stay on one for more than 5 seconds as the big beasts try to throw them off and kill them was a sport to conquer. The demon boy climbing this fence was here to show up the competition by his massive dark powers manifesting in his body. As the others watch patiently everyone in the ring survive and live to tell another story. The boy had his powers taken away and now lives a normal life.
ReplyDeleteThe kids were all so excited to get out of the hospital. Their favorite nurse, Marsha, had happily broken the news that they were going on a field trip to the rodeo. The boys had been out of chemo for a few weeks now and had been cooped up in the hospital since.
ReplyDeleteThey were finally getting their great adventure, the thought of which had gotten them through the last month of sitting in hospital beds with only each other’s company. The rodeo knew there would be some special guests that night and pulled out all the stops. They pulled out cowboys from the crowd for the clowns to harass as extra entertainment for the boys. Jack got so excited he wanted to join them! The rodeo had been his idea anyway. Ryan and Mark were city boys and Jack convinced them that they hadn’t lived until they had seen a real live rodeo.
With all the boys pressed up against the fence, the clowns filled in the time gap between bull riding and barrel racing. Everyone at the show that night had a great time entertaining the boys. Even the cowboys who were solicited into the clown act enjoyed seeing the laughter erupting from the trio’s throat as the entertainment heightened.
